If you search the internet for some weight loss soups that will help, it seems that a cabbage soup recipe is the one that comes up the most often.

There are a bunch of other soups that are similar, such as tomato or chicken, but cabbage seems to be the most popular. This is most likely due to the fact that it is easy to prepare and can be made to suit any taste.

This is the fat burning soup diet recipe that I have been using for some time now and the great thing about it is that it can be modified in different ways by adding curry powder, cayenne pepper or any other vegetable that you might like to include. The basic recipe is as follows as per this soup recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 large can crushed tomatoes.
  • 1 can whole tomatoes.
  • 1 can tomato paste.
  • Salt, pepper, basil and oregano to taste.
  • 1 Carton of Chicken broth.
  • 1 head of a medium cabbage (cut into 8 pieces).

You will also need a large cooking pot with a lid.

Preparation and cooking directions:

  • First thing you will need to do is add the 3 tins of tomatoes to a large pot and then mix them all up together.
  • Then, you can go ahead and add around 1 cup of chicken broth to the tomatoes. You can use beef broth instead at this point if you wish. Mix the broth and the tomatoes together.
  • Add the basil and oregano to the mix. Usually around 1 tablespoon of each will be fine. Add some pepper and a tablespoon of salt. Mix it all together with a wooden spoon.
  • After this has been mixed, you can add the cabbage pieces and use the wooden spoon to mash them down into the liquid. You may find at this point that your pot is too small so take some cabbage out if needed. The liquid can stay though.
  • Put the lid on the pot and cook it on a very low heat.
  • People vary their cooking times, but as a general rule, we suggest you cook it with the lid on for at least 5 hours. Also, make sure that you stir it from time to time to help the cabbage get into the liquid.
  • Once the cabbage has broken down into the liquid, you can test the soup to see if it is suitable.
